Acorn Meadow welcomes superheroes for Alzheimer’s Society fundraiser

Residents at Acorn Meadow Care Home in Northwich were joined by superheroes, live entertainment and the town mayor for a community celebration in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

The Bridge Oak care home held its Superhero Summer Party on Friday 28 August, welcoming residents, relatives and members of the local community for an afternoon of entertainment, activities and superhero-themed fun.

Team members and residents donned capes and costumes for the occasion, while the event also raised funds to support people affected by dementia.

Superheroes arrive at Acorn Meadow

The afternoon began with a buffet before singer Esther Bloor took to the stage, getting residents and visitors singing and dancing with a live performance.

There was then a special visit from Spider-Man, Iron Man and Fireman Sam from Cheshire Mascots, who posed for photographs and joined in with the celebrations.

Residents were at the heart of the day, enjoying party games, dancing and a special superhero training session, while Acorn Meadow team members joined the fun in personalised superhero tops and costumes.

Among the guests were Northwich Town Mayor Robert Cernik and his wife, Kate Cernik, who spent time chatting with residents and even joined in with a singalong.

Resident Richard Howard said:

“We have had a lovely day today, so much fun was had and we can’t wait for our next big event.

“I can’t believe we met superheroes and Fireman Sam! I loved getting stuck in with the superhero training and dancing!”

Supporting Alzheimer’s Society

The celebration formed part of a wider Superhero Summer initiative across Bridge Oak Care Homes, celebrating the everyday heroes within care homes while raising money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Lorna Bennett, Home Manager at Acorn Meadow Care Home, said:

“It has been a really great and successful day today and we already can’t wait for our next big event.

“Thank you to everybody who came and got involved with us!”

The Superhero Summer Party followed Acorn Meadow’s successful Piña Colada Festival, as the home continues to build links with the Northwich community and encourage local people to join residents for events and activities.

Acorn Meadow Care Home is part of Bridge Oak Care Homes and provides residential dementia care for up to 48 residents.
